Corona Virus

Today is march 30th 2020, we have had a terrible start in the new year. The whole world is fighting together against this corona virus that is extremely infective. It is time to show solidarity and do what humans are supposed to do, help each other out.

Be critical!

We highly recommend to be critical of what news you read in social media and other websites. Be sure to investigate the claims that are made, and do not share anything you are not 100% sure is real! There is too much fake news out there, and it is really not doing any good. You should only trust information directly from your government or at least keep yourself updated through

What you should do!

Stay as isolated as you can! Do not hug, or shake hands with anybody. Only the people you are living with, if they are healthy and living by the same rules.
Wear gloves at the store! The corona virus can live on plastics, metals and paper/cardboard. So always wear gloves when you are shopping and be careful when you take them off. Do not touch your face with the gloves! Wash your hands often!
Use phone, FaceTime, Skype and such tools to socialize with friends and family

What not to do!

Be social. Do not gather in groups, arrange parties etc. Do not trust everything you read!

What is the Corona Virus?

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.

Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.  Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.

The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face.

The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).

At this time, there are no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19. However, there are many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments. WHO will continue to provide updated information as soon as clinical findings become available.

Symptoms of the Corona Virus

The COVID-19 virus affects different people in different ways.  COVID-19 is a respiratory disease and most infected people will develop mild to moderate symptoms and recover without requiring special treatment.  People who have underlying medical conditions and those over 60 years old have a higher risk of developing severe disease and death.

Common symptoms include:
1. Fever
2. Tiredness
3. Dry cough

Other symptoms include:
1. Shortness of breath
2. Aches and pains
3. Sore Throat
4. And very few people will report diarrhea, nausea or a runny nose.

People with mild symptoms who are otherwise healthy should self-isolate and contact their medical provider or a COVID-19 information line for advice on testing and referral.

People with fever, cough or difficulty breathing should call their doctor and seek medical attention.

Prevention of the Corona Virus

  1. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or clean them with alcohol-based hand rub.
  2. Maintain at least 1 meter distance between you and people coughing or sneezing.
  3. Avoid touching your face.
  4. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
